Do you ever feel like you are running a marathon and the end isn’t in sight. Or maybe you are in a routine, the same routine, mundane, almost effortless.   This has been me several times in my life. I’ll get in a rut and can’t seem to get out of it.  Sometimes we just need to change our perspective on life: To live, in every aspect of  life, intentionally and with purpose.

Being a mom has changed my life in many ways, working while being a mom has challenged me in ways I never thought possible. Trying to find balance is sometimes harder because really, what is a balanced life? We are all pulled in so many directions and sometimes we have to put out fires we didn’t know were coming. I think balance is for the birds (and even they fall out of trees… just saying).

BUT I can be intentional! I can have a really busy work week and I when I get home, sit on the floor with my kids and let them crawl all over me. I can ask them about their day. Really asking them questions, intentional questions.   Questions that make them think, that make them talk back to me. Not questions that require one-word answers.

I can be intentional with my husband. I can hold his hand… so strange. But my husband loves it when I hold his hand. Or touch his arm when he is talking. It lets him know I’m really listening. When we are in a rut… we stop doing those little things that are so important.

At work I can be intentional. Rather then piling everything on my plate and giving everyone a little. I can prioritize what needs to get done and set a timer allotting a certain amount of time on each project. Side note on me: I work SO efficient when I’m timed!

fullsizerenderRecently I found myself speeding through life, in less then a year we:

  • moved out of a house
  • moved into temporary housing
  • kids entered new schools
  • our stuff was in storage
  • trying to find a new house
  • Went through  a record year in business (check us out over  Trendy Scapes )
  • Had a baby

….and went straight back to work.

Four weeks into deadline after deadline and a four week old baby, I had to pull a time out. But I really couldn’t because I was in the middle of marketing campaign and I had to shoot two TV segments for a morning show I do in Austin called “We Are Austin”.13412967_10209557442796908_2337527678128577264_n

Knowing we all needed a break, I packed my family and brought them to Austin with me. After I was done with my TV segments we spent the weekend at Lakeway Resort and Spa. Because this was last minute, I forget a few things, but we rolled with it. We had the best time hanging out by the pool, going for a walk on the yacht docks, taking the shuttle to restaurants close by. But most importantly just being intentional with our13445795_10209572624336437_3837260026109840805_nr time… unplugging and regrouping.!

This picture really illustrates my mental regroup: By intentionally living an intentional life, I am back at it with all my ducks in a row.
