Skin and Hair Care for summer!

Not all of us can break the bank with facials and expensive skin care products!  Not to mention the harmful chemicals used in many of these.  I found some awesome recipes on pinterest.  I have consolidated them into a  “MUST HAVE” for keeping skin and hair up to par for summer!  The best part is most of the ingredients are things you already have in your cabinets!  You will need the following:

Water, Lemon juice, witch hazel (you can find it right by rubbing alcohol), coffee, brown sugar, sea salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, olive oil, water, oatmeal, honey, avocado, and aspirin (tablet)- Are you ready for some pampering?

 

Face Toner-  brightens complexion, reduces size of pores, reduces inflammation and helps with acne

1/2 Cup Lemon juice

1 Cup Water

2/3 Cup Witch hazel

Plastic bottle or jar

Witch Hazel: Tightens pores and reduces inflammation.

Lemon Juice: Reduce blemishes and lightens skin.

Use facial toner both morning and night for a deeper cleanse, smaller pores and bright, radiant skin!

 

Face Mask- calming component for skin that is irritated and stressed.  Not to mention it smells delicious!

2 tablespoons of honey with

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1  teaspoon of nutmeg

{mixture should be a thick paste}

Apply for 30 minutes when rinsing off scrub in a circular motion

While the nutmeg and cinnamon act as an exfoliate, the nutmeg and honey contain an anti-inflammation component, as well, it reduces swelling and redness in skin cause by acne scars.

 

Pimple Spot treatment

3 aspirin and water- dissolve in hand and spot apple

 

Avocado slices– For under your eyes, reduces wrinkles/ puffy eyes

 

Body scrub for Cellulite

Studies have shown that caffeine naturally draws out cellulite

Ingredients

2 cups coffee grounds (used works too)

½ cup sugar of sea salt

2-3 tables spoons olive oil

Scrub on then scrub off!

 

Brown Sugar and Oatmeal Scrub

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup raw oatmeal
  • 1 cup olive oil

 

Deep Hair Condition

1/4 cup olive oil

1/2 cup honey

Warm mixture in the microwave for 15 seconds.   Put in a small snack size bag and cut a small whole on the corner to easily disperse over your hair without making a big mess.  {yes I’m speaking from experience}   Work the mixture through the strands, down to the ends. Cover your hair with a towel and leave the mixture on for 30 minutes. Shampoo two times, rinse and dry as normal.

  1. I tried the coffee scrub, and I love it! I keep a container of it in my shower and use it once a week. I have had great results!
